PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: Completes Annual Scheduled Railroad Bridge Inspections and provide comments based on observed field conditions;
Completes Periodic Railroad Bridge Inspections and Emergency Bridge Inspections;
Provides training, qualification, and oversight for field maintenance employees; and
Facilitates action plans based on Detailed Inspection results with the Railroad Bridge Engineer. POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES: Complete Bridge Inspections in accordance with FRA Bridge Safety standards and CP Bridge Safety Management Plan Policy;
Audits bridge maintenance/renewal work for compliance with CP Structures Red Book;
Make recommendations to territory Manager Bridge Maintenance in regards the inspection and maintenance of bridges;
Complete inspections of moveable bridges, overhead highway structures, culverts, retaining walls, and turntables;
Directing assignment, use, and operation of Bridge Inspection Vehicle;
Establishes/maintains relationships with their Engineering counterparts on their geographic territory; and
Required to request and obtain all necessary track authorities to conduct on-track bridge inspections. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Qualification as a bridge inspector or ability to become qualified as a Bridge Inspector in accordance with CP Bridge Management Program;
Ability to inspect bridges at heights and wear fall protection;
Computer skills and experience with spreadsheets and word processing required;
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in railroad bridge inspection, maintenance or construction (preferred);
Current GCOR qualified (preferred);
Valid CDL/Commercial License (preferred);
Bachelors' degree in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (preferred); and
