Role Overview Collins Aerospace is seeking an experienced Reliability Engineer to join the Avionics Reliability and Maintainability team. We support the development and production of innovative aviation electronics solutions for one of the world's leading Air Transport, Business & Regional, and Military avionics companies. Primary Responsibilities: The individual will be a member of our Reliability Engineering Team, which supports Air Transport, Business, Regional and Military aircraft products and programs. This position has a direct affect on the fielded reliability of our products and systems. Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to: Performing Reliability Assessments, which includes performing reliability predictions and establishing initial MTBF estimates based on the predicted and fielded performance of similar equipment. Performing Derating analysis, Failure Mode & Effects analysis (FMEAs), and Maintainability Assessments. Performing High Intensity Radiation Fields (HIRF) and Lightning analyses and Neutron Single Event Upset analyses. Performing Accelerated Stress Testing (AST) and developing Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) profiles. These testing efforts include the development of test procedures and reports, as well as performing the actual tests (e.g., overseeing and conducting testing, conducting failure review board meetings, and defining corrective actions). Performing Neutron Single Event Upset susceptibility and mitigation analyses. Developing and/or researching new reliability engineering test and analysis methods for use on sub-50nm technologies, SoC's, touchscreen technologies, etc. Performing bids and proposals on both commercial and military avionics programs. Qualifications: This position requires a Bachelor's degree in the appropriate discipline (STEM degree is highly preferred) and 5 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 3 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required. US Citizenship is required due to ITAR restrictions. Proficient in reliability statistics/models and failure analysis. Background in atmospheric radiation effects (single event effects) analysis/testing per IEC 62936-1 (effects on avionics) and -2 (testing). Detailed knowledge and experience with accelerated stress testing such as Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT), Reliability Enhancement Testing (RET), and Proof of Screens (PoS). Extensive experience with environmental stress screening (ESS) and development of ESS profiles and procedures, including Highly Accelerated Stress Screening (HASS). Component failure modes and wear-out mechanisms per JEDEC is also strongly desired. Past experience with bids and proposals of aerospace products (commercial and/or military). Effective oral/written communication skills. Effective interpersonal and team skills. Knowledge on how to prepare and present technical information to peers, to all levels of internal management, and to external customers.
