Position: Senior Machinist

Department: Production

Position Type: Full Time

Status: Non-Exempt

Reports To: Department Supervisor / Planner

Job Summary

The Senior Machinist plays a crucial role in creating a competitive advantage for our customers through production of world class equipment, within allotted time constraints, that meets the stringent quality and delivery requirements of MPS and our customers.

Supervisory Responsibilities


Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions

All teammates are accountable for their ownership of safety and to encourage safety program compliance with all coworkers.

Read part prints, interpret tolerances, and inspect parts using a variety of tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges).

Manufacture of components from blueprint specifications using machine tools. Includes the setup, operation, and programming of a variety of CNC machine tools using G&M Codes as well as the operation of a variety of manual equipment.

Management of raw material stock through Kanban or traditional inventory management techniques.

Willingness to work overtime hours as dictated by the project or customer's needs.

Required Education and Experience

5 years minimum machining experience

Experience working with carbon and stainless steel of various forms

Read blueprints and utilize standard measuring equipment

Ability to operate equipment such as a manual lathe, manual mill, and CNC.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.

Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, talk or hear, reach with hands and arms.

Occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

Regularly lift up to 75 pounds.

Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.


Successful completion of pre-employment background check and drug screening required.

Travel expectations are less than 10%.

Hours: 5:00AM to 3:30PM, Monday - Thursday with additional hours as required to fully complete the job requirements.
