DescriptionPOSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Lead Teacher, Assistant Teachers are responsible to assist in the planning and implementing of a developmental curriculum for the assigned group of children. The Assistant Teacher is responsible to assist in the use and maintenance of equipment, materials, and the facility. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Work as part of the teaching team to develop and conduct developmentally appropriate activities for a group of children. This includes the setting up and putting away of equipment and materials in the inside and outside environments.Assist in the incorporation of good health and safety standards for the children.Assist children in learning self-help skills. Provide for the physical care of the children, including but not limited to changing, diapering, toiletting, feeding, and comforting as needed.Assist in preparation of snacks and meals as needed.Help maintain an orderly environment.Inform the supervisor when materials and nutrition supplies need to be ordered.Attend and participate in staff and parent meetings and events.Assist in the maintenance of records and reports.Assist the children if an emergency occurs and be part of the emergency readiness team.Acquire DHS required development training hours.Perform other related duties as assigned.Understand and uphold ASAC's mission.Adhere to ASAC policies and procedures, and to all applicable city, state and federal laws and regulations.Maintain strict confidentiality, in accordance with HIPAA and 42CFRDisplay a professional attitude towards and treat all other employees, referral sources, funders, volunteers, visitors, patients and their families with dignity and respect at all times.Demonstrates good communication with, including but not limited to: supervisor, colleagues, co-workers patient/family members, community members, management staff, and other stakeholders.Demonstrate good attendance and punctuality for all work related events.Demonstrate involvement as a team member, regardless of where primary duties lie, by positively contributing to the overall agency operations.Submit paperwork and meet job responsibility deadlines as assigned.Maintain all required license, certifications and related CEUs.Know and perform job duties in a safe manner.Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisors and/or management staff.RequirementsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMinimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent, and an AA Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, Child Development Associate (CDA) Certificate, or equivalent experience working in a Licensed Childcare Center.Ability to work on a daily basis utilizing standard office equipment.Ability to use computer system, software and to work well technology.Ability to use independent judgment, analytical/decision-making skills, verbal and written communication skills, human relations skills, team working skills, and organizational skills.This position consists of frequent sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time.
