Job Description:
The Metal Casting Center (MCC), including the Foundry 4.0
Center, is an applied research organization supporting the metal
casting industry by applying advanced technologies in an effort to
reduce the barriers of adoption allowing their clients to utilize
advanced technologies to ensure a competitive advantage in the
market. Current projects are heavily focused on digital
applications, including Robotics & Automation for casting finishing
as well as data acquisition through advanced sensor applications to
support process applications, control and learning.
Impact & Responsibilities: Coordinates and conducts services in the
MCC and for industrial clients; provides technical assistance and
outreach services; prepares technical reports for the MCC and
industrial clients; works with advanced technologies and
applications to support the foundry industry with an emphasis on
digital applications including CAD, Robotics, Automation and IIoT;
supports applied research through the design, coordination, and
execution of services for the MCC and industrial clients using
standardized methodologies; and supervises student employees.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology, or
related field and foundry field experience. Student experience will
be considered.
Preferred: Experience with CAD, Robotics, additive manufacturing or
related foundry equipment.
