We're growing our team here in Cedar Rapids, IA:Shift: Saturday / Sunday 7:00 am - 3:00 pm (days)/ Wednesday / Thursday 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm (nights)Pay: $17.64 / hour with a 6 month increase to $18.14 / Hour About the job:
  • Provide assistance and information to employees, visitors, and clients as needed. This includes helping with directions, answering questions, and providing a visible security presence that reassures people.
  • Access control responsibilities including verifying the identity of employees, visitors, and contractors, and ensuring that only authorized individuals enter the building.
  • Maintain detailed records of security incidents, including writing incident reports that document any unusual occurrences, security breaches, or suspicious activities.
  • monitor security cameras and other surveillance equipment to detect any suspicious activity or security breaches.
  • Handle disputes or conflicts that may arise within the premises professionally and diplomatically, and escalate situations to higher authorities when necessary.
  • Conduct regular patrols of the premises, both inside and outside the building, to deter criminal activity and ensure the safety and security of the company's assets and personnel.
  • Collaborate with other security personnel and departments within the company to maintain a cohesive security strategy
  • Stay informed about security threats and trends, and participate in ongoing training to maintain and improve security skills.
  • Enforce the company's security policies and procedures, including verifying the identification of individuals, ensuring compliance with access control protocols, and performing security checks as required.
  • Ensure that security equipment, such as alarms, surveillance cameras, and access control systems, are properly maintained and report any malfunctions.
  • Other duties as assigned. Your background:
    • You have a high school education or equivalent (GED).
    • You're able to pass an extensive screening process.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain an Iowa state security license (GardaWorld will pay for and help to obtain if needed during the hiring process).
    • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
    • Must be at least 18 years of age.
    • Customer service skills/experience is a must.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Strong written and communication skills.
    • Computer literacy skills.
    • Strong attention to detail and situational awareness.
    • Must be physically capable of walking long distances and stair climbing.
    • Must be capable of working outside in various weather conditions.
