The airborne communications management system provides a mobile data link service through various subnetworks between the aircraft and the airline ground facilities and/or air traffic controllers. The Data Link software team creates the airborne software providing methods to manage the receipt of uplink messages, generation of downlink messages, and the development of the on-board applications for the processing of messages. This candidate will design and develop embedded software primarily in the C++ language and also develop on-board Datalink products display pages using GUI based design tools, along with the associated logic to animate the pages on the flight deck and cabin displays. Development will be for current generation products and the next generation product line following the Rockwell Collins Technical Consistent Process. As a Data Link team member you would be responsible for all aspects of a project life-cycle. This role will be ONSITE in Cedar Rapids, IA with relocation available.Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products. Job Responsibilities:Design, code, test, and provide ongoing support for embedded systems software to meet technical and customer requirementsDesign and code based on low-level software requirementsBuild, test and deliver real-time embedded software to target environments in support of program and customer commitmentsAssist with system level testing, working closely with cross functional areas to coordinate desired solutions, documenting problem reports and working resolution activitiesParticipate in Design and Code Reviews with other members of the team to identify and eliminate problems early in the development process.Occasional domestic and/or international travelParticipate in SOI audits with the U.S. FAA and other foreign certification authorities.Basic Qualifications:Bachelor's degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and 5 years of prior relevant experience ORAdvanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience ORIn absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is requiredWorking knowledge of C, C++,Python/Perl Scripting Language knowledgeKnowledge of designing new software systems using object-oriented design principlesDemonstrated technical leadership capability for working with internal organizations and external customersPreferred:Network protocol knowledge and Real Time Operating System knowledgeKnowledge of aircraft systems (Data Link, RTSAEICAS, CDU, FDSA , FMS, , etc.) and their function in the aircraftKnowledge of air/ground messaging and related data link protocols (ARINC 429, ARINC 618)Knowledge of A661 and A739 HMI display standards.Knowledge of D0-178B/C,DO-200, and DO-330 certification processesCollins Aerospace, a Raytheon Technologies company, is a leader in technologically advanced and intelligent solutions for the global aerospace and defense industry.
