Job Description:

Under limited direction, the Health Occupations Program Director will be responsible for the planning, implementation and oversight of education and training programs and courses for the Health Occupations programs in Employer's Continuing Education Division. The Program Director will be responsible for program development, implementation, instructor recruitment and budgetary oversight of a variety of courses and programs. The Program Director will be responsible for maintaining all institutional, local, state and national compliance and certifications for programs. Lead- regardless of title, through positive influence. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Assess local and regional education needs and implement programs to meet the assessed needs. Coordinate programs and curriculum with instructors. Provide budgetary oversight of program functions. Counsel current and prospective students on appropriate educational needs. Participate in state-wide programming activities. Prepare planning analysis of new programs. Work with/coordinate instructors/speakers to present quality courses/programs. Monitor and analyze budget revenue projections, program expenses operating margin and other benchmarks in support of CE&TS Department and Strategic Plans Perform other related work duties as assigned. PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS for LONGTERM: Administer and oversee Nurse Aide and other long term care programs at Employer. Assess local and regional education needs in nurse aide training and other training activities as assigned and implement programs to meet the assessed needs. Maintain Employer's Nurse Aide providership and assure compliance with all local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations regarding Nurse Aide and other longterm care program training. Administer and oversee programs and courses including but not limited to the Rehabilitation Aide, Administration of Non-Parenteral Medications for Certified Nurse Aide, Food Service Training, Activity Coordinator, Medication Aide, Medication Manager, and KPACE Connections courses and programs and other programs as appropriate. Administer and oversee state written and practical Nurse Aide examinations. PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS for ALLIED: Administer and oversee the continuing professional education for nurses and other Allied Health professionals- including assuring regulatory compliance with state, national and credentialing agency requirements. Assess local and regional education needs in nursing and Allied health education and implement programs to meet the assessed needs. Maintain Employer's Board of Nursing providership and assure compliance with all local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations regarding the delivery of nursing education Administer and oversee programs and courses including but not limited to the Pharmacy Technician (credit program), Phlebotomy, Medical Billing/Medical Coding, EKG Technician, Ophthalmic Assistant, Central Sterilization Technician, Dental, Medical Office Professional and other programs as appropriate Create and administer educational offerings, including courses, classes, programs, and conferences in cooperation within the college and with external agencies as appropriate Welcome, value, and nurture people of all backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences, as well as support and promote an environment that accepts differences. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Registered Nurse. Current Iowa Nursing license. Two years experience working as a Registered Nurse. At least one-year experience working as a Registered Nurse in a long-term care facility (skilled nursing floor of hospital will not qualify as LTC experience). LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED: Registered Nurse or higher (BSN, MSN, NP) CPR for the Healthcare Professional (or ability to obtain within six months of employment) PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS: Bachelor's degree preferred. Knowledge of current practice and other related health areas required. At least one year experience in educational setting and familiarity with agencies and boards of agencies preferred.
