Job Description:

Providing psychotherapy (to individuals, couples, and families) in office and at other sites. Doing psycho-educational presentations in community and business settings. Performing a variety of duties related to maintaining, improving, and developing the Mental Health Departments programs.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Provide counseling/therapy to clients, fulfilling (if client numbers permit) Departments session volume expectations.
2.Record required client file information in a timely and accurate manner.
3.Develop and do psycho-educational presentations.
4.Provide professional leadership for groups (support and/or therapy).
5.Carry out other Mental Health Department related duties as assigned by supervisor.
6.Engage in educational and skills development activities pertaining to professional improvement related to the needs of the Counseling Department.
7.Completes job-related paperwork and statistics in a timely and accurate manner.
8.Keeps supervisor informed of relevant issues.
9.Is respectful of program and agency resources (equipment, supplies, energy, and mileage).
10.Ability to work in a caring and helping manner with clients and staff.
11.Ability to work well with other community agencies.

EXPECTATIONS FOR ALL EMPLOYEES:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
The Therapist Position requires a Masters degree in social work or counseling, one to three years of relevant professional experience. Masters degree in social work or counseling counts toward one year of relevant professional experience. Licensure at least at the LMSW or equivalent level.

SUPERVISION REQUIREMENTS:
The Therapist position reports directly to the Clinical Manager.

HOURS AND SCHEDULE EXPECTATIONS:
This position is Full-time, Monday- Friday 8 am until 5 pm; except Thursdays 9 am- 6 pm.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Demonstrated ability to conceptualize case treatment and express conceptualization and knowledge base clearly. Demonstrated ability to organize time and effort in order to meet work demands. Must be organized, have strong oral and written communication skills, be detail- oriented, have proficiency with standard computer software packages. Must possess the ability to maintain a positive consistent attitude in working with staff and clients, including holding the belief that people have the capacity to grow and change. This position is a mandatory child abuse reporter and must be re-certified every five years.

5.Must be able to be certified as not having been involved in abuse to children or adults.
6.Must be able to be certified as not having been involved in criminal activity.
