General Surgery Opening in Waterloo, IA Seeking a General Surgeon with interest or specialization in breast or thyroid surgery to join a strong surgical program within a fully integrated health system. This opportunity includes both inpatient and outpatient surgery with excellent specialty support and modern surgical facilities. About the Opportunity -Opportunity for general surgery with focus in breast or thyroid surgery-Strong specialty support: interventional radiology, urology, OB/GYN, pulmonary critical care, cardiothoracic, cardiology, GI, hospitalist, neurosurgery-Strong primary care referral network Hospital & Surgical Environment -31-bed emergency department and Level III designated area trauma center-Block OR scheduling with add-on time and open access-Multiple OR environments:-UPH Allen: 8 general ORs, 1 CVOR-ASC: 4 ORs, 2 procedure rooms-State-of-the-art diagnostics and Da Vinci XI robotics-12-bed ICU with intensivist support-Award-winning heart hospital, primary stroke center, accredited chest pain center-Leading edge wound clinic and hyperbaric center Schedule & Work-Life Balance -Excellent work-life balance with flexible scheduling-Teaching opportunities with Family Medicine Residency and medical students-EPIC EMR system fully integrated across clinic and hospital Responsibilities -Clinic consultations and surgical procedures-Clinic hours 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM-Office-based procedures vary by provider preference-OR access at main hospital and ambulatory surgery center-Call rotation 1:5 for trauma surgery-Typical general surgery procedures: Appendectomy Cholecystectomy Robotic/minimally invasive hernia repair GERD management Colectomy Dialysis access Abdominal surgery Endocrine surgery (including thyroid) Lymphatic system and spleen surgery Qualifications -MD or DO-Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery-Eligible for unrestricted Iowa medical license-Ability to obtain state and federal prescribing authority-Eligible to work in the United States-H1B cap exempt and J-1 waiver sponsorship available Compensation and Benefits -Initial salary guarantee with opportunity to exceed via innovative compensation model-Incentive package-Comprehensive Total Rewards program-Generous time off and CME allowance-Malpractice insurance coverage-Retirement contributions-Dedicated provider resources to support work-life balance-Public Service Loan Forgiveness eligible, including free third-party support-Organizational commitment to physician voice, inclusion, and professional development-Values-driven culture focused on doing what is right for patients and community Community Details Waterloo and Cedar Falls form a metro area of over 107,000 residents in the Cedar Valley .
