They are also responsible for supervising all lab personnel and performing laboratory testing functions.Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage all activities associated with the QA Lab.
  • Manage the scheduling of laboratory personnel work hours to accommodate work load.
  • Supervise laboratory work to ensure the quality of our testing results.
  • Perform laboratory testing as needed depending on workload.
  • Producing laboratory testing media.
  • Maintains and coordinates preventative maintenance/calibrations of laboratory equipment.
  • Troubleshoot laboratory testing issues.
  • Researching and implementing new testing methods and creating procedures.
  • Evaluate new testing methods.
  • Evaluating personnel performance and test performance through proficiency testing.
  • Evaluating testing methods through quality control testing.
  • Participating in Internal Audits and Management Reviews of the laboratory.
  • Acquiring laboratory accreditation and maintaining accreditation status.
  • Communicating with company departments about laboratory samples and results.
  • Verifying testing result accuracy.
  • Managing inventory; including reporting inventory to accounting and ordering supplies.
  • Provide laboratory personnel with information regarding company activities, changes and other significant events.
  • Interview and recommends candidates for laboratory positions.
  • Informs and enforces hourly laboratory personnel's knowledge and adherence to laboratory policies & procedures and company policies & procedures.
  • Provides required monthly training to the department on safety and accident prevention in the workplace.
  • Trains and develops laboratory personnel to prove their job knowledge and their value to the department and the company.
  • Conducts performance management reviews with the team.
    JOB REQUIREMENTS
    • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
    • 5 years of microbiology lab experience is preferred.
    • 2 years of management experience is preferred.
    • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
    • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
    • Must be able to practice good personal hygiene.
    • Ability to perform basic math.
    • Work extended hours, weekends and overtime if needed.
    • Experience in food manufacturing or processing is a plus.
    • Ability to adjust quickly to changing demands.
    • Basic computer skills using Google Suite.
    • HACCP plan certification preferred.
    • Good customer service skills are a must.
    • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
