Parts Manager
Our premier client is looking to add a Parts Manager to their team at their Cedar Rapids, IA location. In this role you will manage a department of up to 30 employees and are responsible for managing all aspects of a full-service dealership s parts operations to provide the highest level of external and internal customer satisfaction while managing profitability goals and maximizing return on the investment through parts sales, inventory control, and expense control. Additionally, you will be responsible for optimizing parts department processes, overall general management, community relations and plan, direct and coordinate activities of employees in the Parts Department to facilitate customer satisfaction with the quality of parts purchases and timeliness of service/repair work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Include the following, other duties may be assigned:

  • Supervise and direct Parts Department personnel engaged in ordering, receiving, shelving/stocking, inventorying, issuing, shipping and delivering truck parts/equipment
  • Develop, implement and maintain effective work processes and procedures designed to improve efficiency and expedite workflow and ensure internal and external customer satisfaction
  • Partner with Service Department and regularly review order/sales data to determine adequacy of stock levels and negotiate with vendors to purchase truck parts and materials at best cost
  • Analyze customer volume and demand, along with product line supply and/or manufacturing capacity, and other factors to establish pricing strategies that maximize margins, by creating annual goals and budget in alignment with the organization s financial and operational objectives
  • Exercise appropriate inventory management controls to ensure optimum stocking levels, safekeeping of inventory and core returns reimbursements
  • Develops and executes Parts Department marketing plan and monitors monthly to ensure achievement of department goals
  • Traces history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and recommends remedial actions to resolve discrepancies while maintaining an accurate and effective parts inventory control system that includes a perpetual and/or annual physical inventory and proper counter procedures
  • Submits all parts warranty and return claims within the required time frame to receive maximum credit
  • Maximizes use of all order discount programs to achieve management stock order goals
  • Ensures all department tools, equipment and vehicles are in good working order Desired Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge
    • Must have at least 2-3 years of parts sales or upper management experience
    • Must have at least 2-3 years of parts sales or upper level management experience, along with demonstrated success in building and exceeding sales goals, growing revenue, expense control, and successfully managing a parts department.
    • Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to write and speak effectively to individuals and groups
    • Basic understanding of financial principles relate to Parts Department operations
    • Ability to analyze and interpret internal reports
    • Ability to effectively lead and work as a member of a team, and able to balance both team and individual responsibilities with a desire to put the success of team above own interest and willingness to supports everyone's efforts to succeed
    • Customer service driven and able to manage difficult or emotional customer situations by responding promptly to customer need and solicit customer feedback to improve service
    • Ability to use standard desktop load applications as Microsoft Office and internet functions
    • Must have current, valid driver's license and insurable driving record.
      • Ability to collect and researches data, using intuition and experience to complement data and design workflows and procedures
      • Able to identify and resolves problems in a timely manner, by gathering and analyzing information skillfully and able to develop alternative solutions Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises employees in the Truck Parts Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
