As the Market President, provides planning, direction, organization
and evaluation of commercial initiatives for the Cedar Valley
region and its subsidiaries. Ensures that MidWestOne has measurable
commercial objectives which support the overall goals and
objectives of the organization. Leads and manages assigned
Commercial Banking Officer team. Manages their own commercial/ag
banking relationships and coordinates business development efforts
with department officers and business development personnel in the
Cedar Valley. Coordinates market growth and retention strategies
with Retail Manager and support staff with overall efforts so
results are achieved through various lines of business activities.
Works with EVP-Commercial Banking on strategic planning, business
growth and retention, and other assigned project
management.
Directs the business activities of the Commercial Banking Officers
as it relates to lending, deposit relationships, with emphasis on
the total commercial banking relationship.
Ensures Client Retention and Revenue Generation objectives are
being met, within our risk management guidelines
Conducts joint calls with other lenders when needed
Create and nurture a network of centers of influence, including
accountants, attorneys, and other professionals.
Develops, executes, and maintains an effective business development
plan for the market consistent with the Bank's overall
objectives:
Directly manages commercial staff while using overall leadership
practices to influence the results of applicable market. Ensures
staffing, security, compliance, and operations are maintained and
practiced.
Manages by a coaching regimen which defines and articulates a sales
and service culture. This includes leading any staff and sales
meetings and aligning overall performance of team members with
performance goals which corresponding with market objectives.
Provides on-going motivation for subordinate commercial staff
members and other lines of business personnel in the market to
achieve business results.
Calls on business customers and potential clients and promotes the
Bank to enhance commercial banking relationships. Identifies and
analyzes potential loan markets to develop prospects for commercial
loans. Promotes the Bank to enhance commercial banking
relationships, as well as, referring other lines of business to the
appropriate area. Reports weekly call results to EVP Commercial
Banking.
As a direct lender, interviews applicants and underwrites all types
of commercial loans through existing loan policy guidelines.
Collects and analyzes financial related data to determine the
general creditworthiness of the prospect and the merits of the
specific loan request; submits application to credit analyst for
verification and recommendation.
Employ robust financial analysis to analyze loan requests and the
financial condition of current and proposed lending arrangements.
Partner effectively and constructively with Credit Administration
in underwriting and reviewing Borrower relationships to produce a
consistent, timely, and accurate understanding of risk profile.
Maintain deep and updated understanding of the Bank's credit
policies and risk management philosophy and applicable regulations
and compliance requirements
Establishes and negotiates where necessary the terms under which
the credit will be extended, including the costs, repayment method
and schedule and collateral requirements.
Compiles loan package and facilitates negotiation of loan structure
with applicant, including fees, loan repayment options, and other
credit terms. Ensures loan agreements are complete and accurate
according to policy. Promotes and cross-sells other banking
products and services as appropriate to customer needs.
Approves loan within specified limits or refers to loan committee
for approval.
Assures timely loan closing and funding activities.
Works problem or delinquent loan accounts through the collection
process in coordination with Credit Management personnel:
Monitors loan repayment activities and takes necessary action to
collect from past due accounts.
Advise customers, where possible, on business management and
financial matters.
Responsible for all documentation requirements for loans under
his/her responsibility in conjunction with the Credit Management
Department.
Participates in the planning process for the Commercial Banking
Department.
Provides input when developing Commercial Banking policies and
procedures.
Assists the EVP-Commercial Banking, with designated credits and
special projects.

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university preferred,
or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
A minimum of five years of experience in Commercial Banking/Lending
serving in a role as a senior lender or senior business banking
officer with management responsibilities.
