This includes designing effective sustainability initiatives with an emphasis on generating business value and aligning with our customer's current and future needs Oversee our nutrient management division, which encompasses cost-effective manure application, site permitting, development and compliance.*ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES** Supervise all agroecosystem staff personnel, including the nutrient application operating group, nutrient management business managers, compliance personnel and sustainability manager.* Active involvement in site development which can include permitting, manure management plan development, and other areas of DNR compliance* Develop and implement strategies to increase company revenue streams through nutrient sales and cost share.* Grow and maintain key relationships with industry stakeholders to create and implement strategic programs and initiatives that align with our customer's current and future sustainability goals and objectives.* Further development of Smart Soil Partnership Programs to cultivate relationships and partnerships to increase in-field and edge-of-field conservation practices with our manure customers.* Development of new revenue and cost efficiency opportunities including but not limited to, solar, renewable energy, and carbon markets.* Oversee Department of National Resources (DNR) compliance, including developing and maintaining field application records according to regulatory requirements.* Knowledge and expertise in P-Index, RUSLE2 soil loss equation, GIS and GPS programs.* Maintain current knowledge of Iowa State University Extension crop science and nutrient uptake recommendations.* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of state and federal government regulations that impact the business.*COMPANY EXPECTATIONS: ** Adhere to Iowa Select Farms bio-security policy at all times which includes reporting any violations or concerns to management team* Compliance with Iowa Select Farms safety policies and procedures which includes continuous education to maintain a safe work environment* Follow Iowa Select Farms animal wellbeing policy at all times and partner with the Production Well-being team in a timely manner if an incident occurs*LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES** Strategic planning and development* Demonstrated ability to develop business models which increase revenue streams from agroecosystem business models.* Demonstrated operations skills* Achievement of consistent results.* Ability to provide a unified leadership message with senior management.*SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES** This position directly supervises employees and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.* Planning, assigning, and directing work responsibilities for others* Maintaining staffing levels needed to meet company goals which can include involvement in interviewing and hiring processes.* Provides employees, both current and new with updated training on positions that fall under applicable department(s).* Coordinates with human resources to respond to employee concerns or complaints.* Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy* Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive* Rewarding employees in the form of positive feedback and utilization of company programs when performance in key areas is high.*WORK ENVIRONMENT** The environment of this position will change daily pending weekly schedule* This position will have duties in all facilities of Iowa Select Farms so employee will need to be comfortable working in and being exposed to all facility environments* This position may require some tasks to be performed in outside weather conditions.* The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.* While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibrations.* The environment you will be working will have nuisance levels of gasses and dust, particularly in the winter months*PHYSICALITY REQUIREMENTS** The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.* Required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch orcrawl; talk or hear.* Theemployee must be able to continuously repeat necessary movements such as bending, lifting and different hand movements as needed to complete tasks* Ability to lift up to 75 pounds along with climbing up ladders and over gates*POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK** This is a full-time position that will require a minimum of 40 hours per week* Occasional evening hours and weekend work may be required as job duties demand* Additional availability may be required during staffing challenges*TRAVEL** Regular travel will be required for this position which entails the utilization of a company vehicle*EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and OTHER QUALIFICATIONS** Bachelor's Degree in an agriculture-related field or significant experience, plus five years of management experience required. Must have excellent computer experience, including Microsoft Office Suite.* Knowledge and expertise in P-Index, RUSLE2 Soil loss equation, Internet-based applications, GPS, and Geographical Information Systems (GIS).* Experience in leading swine production operations is preferred*OTHER DUTIES** Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
