Cedar Rapids, IAThis is an exempt level position.The Carbohydrate Solutions Feedhouse Technology Center supports plant process areas related to the manufacture of the following high quality animal feed and biofuels products:Corn Gluten Feed Pellets (CGFP)60% Corn Gluten MealCorn GermDistiller's Dried Grains with Solubles (DDGS)Distiller's Corn Oil (DCO)These are produced through the following primary unit operations:DewateringDryingEvaporationGrindingPelletingThis position will primarily support the continuous improvement and optimization of the Cedar Rapids wet and dry mill feedhouse, while also sharing knowledge and collaborating with colleagues across ADM's other wet and dry corn milling facilities in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota and Nebraska.The Process & Technology Engineer will play a critical role in helping ADM achieve its energy intensity and sustainability goals through improvements in reliability, efficiency and yield recovery.Position Summary:The Process & Technology Engineer will apply engineering principles to new and existing facilities with tasks ranging from process design to the evaluation/implementation of new technologies. The primary purpose of the position is to ensure plant process systems are designed, built, operated, and maintained at optimal levels.Essential Job Functions:Display a dedication to lead, develop and support safety and promote a safety culture. Promote continuous process safety improvementBenchmark the location versus internal and external best available technologies and drive improvementsManage and prioritize the Wave portfolio in cooperation with the Plant Manager or Focused improvement pillar and/or the Director of Technology, where applicableDevelop and maintain a 5-year project portfolio to include capital budgeting, execution and to strike a balance between NDE (non-discretionary expenditures) and productivity/growthCollaborate with the appropriate Technology Centers to ensure alignment of technologyExplore, propose and/or champion new process technologies and equipment suppliersWork within the Global Technology Center to standardize operations, share standard methodologies and implement new technologiesAssist plant operations in solving applicable technical problemsSupport the facility in setting up goalsWork closely with company subject matter experts on the implementation of innovative approaches to plant operation and maintenanceAct as a resource for plant process engineers through coaching, mentoring, and conducting training sessionsCreate/revise process control narratives to support operationsWork with instrumentation and controls to upgrade from our existing DCS (control system) to Delta VRequired Skills:Dedication to working safely and to the awareness for the safety of othersStrong knowledge of a variety of process unit operations. Some examples include: extraction, biodiesel, extrusion, evaporation, drying, grinding and centrifugationExperience with optimization/analytical processes and toolsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with plant engineers and managementWorking knowledge of common process drawings and documentation, such as P&IDs and control narrativesWillingness to spend time in plant areas - tolerate extreme temperatures, walk long distances, stand, climb stairs and ladders and move through close spacesAbility to work effectively on a team as well as independently while traveling to remote plant locationsHigh level of motivation and results-oriented way of workingAbility to travel with some overnight-stay travel requiredRequired Education:Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in the fields of Chemistry, Food Processing, Production Manufacturing, Engineering, Technology, or a similar technical disciplineRequired Experience:Minimum 5 years' experience working with manufacturing plant process systemsPreferred Experience:Experience with Operations supervision and/or experience as a Process/Project EngineerExcited about this role but don't meet every requirement listed?
