Civil or Environmental Engineer - Solid Waste

• Serve as primary technical resource for solid waste design projects including landfill cells, final covers, site layout, transfer stations, leachate systems and landfill gas systems.
• Oversee the development and quality control review of plans and specifications and serve as the engineer of record for municipal solid waste, ash monofill and demolition landfill waste facility construction projects.
• Provide hands-on technical engineering for solid waste projects (issue identification and resolution, project team leadership, delivery of projects within scope/schedule/budget, technical quality, etc.).
• Provide communications leadership to teams/systems/processes to complete projects with high quality and on time and provide input for continuous improvements.
• Serve as a primary contact for clients regarding solid waste projects.
• Participate in proposals/presentations, attend client meetings, advocate for client and stake holder interests in public meetings, attend trade shows that support client interests, facilitate meetings between client and suppliers and vendors, meet with regulatory agencies and contractors as owner's representative.
• Proactively identify client needs and initiate activities to meet those needs.
• Demonstrate effective client and project team communication skills with a focus on technical issues for clients, regulators, and stakeholders.
• Negotiate scope change orders with clients and subcontractors.
• Coach junior engineers to develop their technical skills.
• Maintain all licenses and certifications in good standing. Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field
  • Experience in site development, grading, drainage and storm water management.
  • Minimum 5+ years of engineering experience related to site design or civil infrastructure
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure or ability to obtain within 18 months Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience in solid waste / landfill projects
    • 5 - 10 years of experience working in the engineering consulting industry
    • 3 - 5 years project management / coordination experience
    • Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
    • Working knowledge of federal and state regulatory requirements and standards for design of waste facilities and emerging regulatory issues
